ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT

October, 2016

NEW FIRE TANKER READY FOR PICK-UP:

The new fire tanker is ready for pick-up by our fire department.  Fire Chief Ray Friend was contacted by Fout Brothers of Smyna Georgia and informed that tanker trucker would be ready for pick up ahead of scheduled.  All necessary documentation was supplied to the Antwerp Exchange Bank from my office and the fire department and it is anticipated that Fire Chief Friend along with several fire department volunteers will be making the trip to Georgia to bring back the tanker.  As soon as copies of the check for payment of the tanker is received by this writer, I will submit to the state for reimbursement of the $100,000.00 which we were awarded in the grant.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL:

Construction is proceeding on the sidewalks to the school with a completion date is set for 10/31/16.  Vern Nagel, Inc. of Napoleon is the contractor and I have not been contacted about any change orders to-date so at this point with the sidewalks now being constructed on Harrmann Road,  it is anticipated that we will be able to stay without the bid award.

REGISTRATION OF COMPOST SITE SENT TO EPA:

The registration paperwork for the compost site at the sewer plant was mailed to EPA and they did not a few deficiencies which Curtis and I are working on supplying.  There wasn’t anything noted that we can’t supply.    A gate has been purchased and installed, along with required EPA signage.   Go Green company that commercially chips branches visited the sewer plant several weeks ago and gave us an estimate of $1,985.00 to chip all existing brush currently in-site at the sewer plant.  They were given the go ahead and will schedule to get here in the next week or two.  As required by EPA we were required to chip the existing brush on-site.  Once the brush is chipped, any resident who would like the chippings can take any or all of it.  Notices will be made for times the site will be open.   Once the drop off site is approved by EPA,  existing employees will take turns manning the site on Saturdays that we’re open.

PERMISSIVE TAX RESOLUTION ACCEPTED BY THE OHIO BMV:

The additional $5.00 per license plate renewal resolution passed by council and sent in to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles was accepted.  Starting in January, 2018 this additional $5.00 per plate fee will start being collected for the Village of Antwerp.  It is anticipated that this will help generate an additional $8,500.00 in revenue to be used exclusively for street improvements.

TRICK OR TREAT NIGHT – REMINDER:

Trick or Treat night will be the last Saturday of October, which is October 29, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE:

As you are aware I fell and broke my leg!  Not only did it ruin my planned vacation, but this is the longest I’ve gone not being able to help myself.  Anyway, I have until November 3rd before I can put any weight on my leg.  I have been able to get into the office and also can work from home.  If anyone needs to contact me, please feel free to call me at 419-506-0205 to ensure you can reach me until I can get back into the office full time.
