Trash pick up for the Village of Antwerp will be on schedule for tomorrow, Thursday, November 14, 2019.
Due to Thanksgiving being on Thursday, November 28, 2019, trash will be delayed one day. So normal pick up will be that Friday, November 29, 2019.
Due to the frigid weather, residents are encourages to drip their faucets, turn on heat tape around your pipes and open cabinet doors to expose your waterlines to keep them from freezing. Running even small streams of water can keep not only your pipes from freezing but your water meter.
The Village of Antwerp’s personnel/finance committee will meet on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. in council chambers to review the Village’s Employee Personnel Manual.
As part of the waterline replacement project. Sections of E. Canal from Erie Street east to Water Plant drive will cause water in the area to be off while connections are made. Once water comes back on, residents are advised to run their outside spigots until the water clears as the process of shutting off water caused sediment to be stirred in the lines. There has been no lose of pressure in the line so this does not caused a boil advisory. The Village would ask for patience during this process as we replace cast iron lines that are over 50 years old with plastic. This should result in less waterline breaks.
Due to rain yesterday, the connection by the waterline contractor to E. Canal will continue this morning and there will be interruptions of water starting this morning. This will also effect S. Main residents/business from E. Canal to Daggett.
Due to the new waterline project on S. Main Street, water to the downtown will be shut off temporarily while the contractors tap into the E. Canal Line. Should be any time and they will work as fast as they can to get water back on.
The Village is asking residents for patience with the waterline replacement project that started today, 10/17/19 in the downtown area. From W. Daggett street south to E. Canal will be effected in front of the dentist office, post office and bank for the next couple of weeks while this section of old pipe is replaced by Bryan Excavating. A flagger and one lane is being instituted in this section of S. Main Street and no parking will be allowed on the west side until the project is completed.
Once this section is completed, the contractor will move to E. Canal Street starting at Erie Street, east to Water Plant Drive. To replace this section of waterline. Again flaggers and one lane traffic will be maintained during this replacement. Please use other routes around these areas if possible. Once this project is completed, all old cast iron pipe will be replaced with plastic.
