Village of Antwerp does not allow Chickens in town

Please be advised, the Village of Antwerp does not allow the raising of chickens or other livestock inside the village limits, with the exception of A-1 (Agricultural zoned properties).  Subdivisions and residential areas that are zoned R-1, Single Family, R-2, Single Family and Multi- Family and all Business Districts can not house chickens.  Reports have been made of several residences having chickens and these residents will receive notices to have the chickens removed and any buildings constructed to house the birds that do not meet zoning regulations will have to be torn down.  Any questions on these should be referred to the Village Administrator at 419-258-2371.
